Principal's Message

A Message from the Principal

Dear Hawk Family:

Wow...time really does fly when you are having fun!  I am proud to start my fourth year as principal of Monrovia Elementary School.  Last summer as I began my 3rd year as principal, I reflected on my first 2 years and I felt it necessary to combine our focus of  “Building Relationships, One Stakeholder at a Time” with upholding the exceptional reputation held by the community of Monrovia. I strongly believe that every great leader must reflect on the past and present to determine future decisions made and makes changes when needed.  This year, I will continue to work to earn the trust/respect of the stakeholders of Monrovia Elementary School. Let me start by reminding you of my open door policy. I ask that you take advantage of this and feel free to contact me at any time as we continue to move Monrovia from “Good to Great”!

We are certainly moving Monrovia from “Good to Great”!  With your support, we have purchased 162 student Chromebooks to be checked out for instructional use.  We have purchased 17 Cleartouch 12 point interactive panels for the library and for every classroom grades 2nd-5th.  We are currently in the process of purchasing 13 more interactive panels for Kindergarten, 1st grade, and our special classes.  We have also renovated/updated the playground, front office area, library, cafeteria and gym areas.

Thank you to all who came out to support us during one of our 3 “Spruce Up Monrovia” community events.  This year we will continue with upgrading our school with painting and other projects that will restore the character of our school.  Please stay tuned to dates and times that we will come together for a few hours to support our school.

Again, please remember my open door policy and feel free to contact me at any time.  I look forward to another exciting year of learning and I encourage you to become active participants in the school environment.

Sincerely,

Renee’ A. Headen, Ed.D
